We are the UK’s original grower of these small but wonderfully tasty Spanish tapas fruit. They are as good as the original Pimientos de Padron, we think so anyway, and they can now be purchased fresh from us at ukpeppers or alternatively direct from one of our growing list of suppliers.
They are described as a small, green tube or bell shape pepper that is sweet and tasty said by some to be similar in taste to asparagus. However, the secret of these little green peppers is that they are delightful to taste but then just wait for your taste buds to explode as one in every 20, or so, is hot and spicy – we like to think it’s playing Russian Roulette with food!
You can easily create a very sociable dish with the peppers which can be shallow fried in oil and salt and served in the middle of a platter of cold meats and cheese. Just right for summer parties but remember to have plenty of cold drinks on the side!
